RACE
CAR DRAWS ATTENTION OF BOARD OF TRUSTEES
The Board of Trustees of Iowa Lakes Community College was treated
to a report late Tuesday afternoon on the Race Car which students
"tuned up" for summer competition.
The car was entered in competition seven times last summer - six
times at the Humboldt Raceway and one time at Thunder Valley in
Marion, S.D. The students won two trophies for their efforts.
They are in charge of fine tuning the engine while the instructors
actually race the 1982 Pontiac Firebird. Students met with the
board and talked about the fabrication and
development of the race car. A PowerPoint presentation showed
highlights of the summer activity. Brian Campbell, associate
professor, and, Larry Danielson, instructor, teach the program.
Also, the Trustees were given a building update on the Max O.
Pelzer Student Center at the Estherville Campus and approved
change orders. In other business, the Trustees approved new hires
and early retirements; heard reports from fellow members on
committees and councils; as well as other routine reports from
staff.
The next meeting will be held Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, in
Estherville.
