HOMECOMING PLANNED AT IOWA LAKES NEXT WEEK

Students at Iowa Lakes Community College will celebrate homecoming next week.

Spinning off from trendy televisions shows, this year's theme is focused on the popularity of "Survivor" shows.  Throughout the week (Jan. 20-24) students will celebrate the theme with camouflage colored "Laker Wear" and fun activities.  There will also be community activities.

There will be two evenings for basketball, a coffee house featuring the talents of music students as well as a dance for students.

The coffee house will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20, at the Estherville Campus in Room 35.  Vocal and instrumental students will offer a variety of entertainment that evening.  This event is free and open to the public. Door prizes will be given away.

The basketball games will be free to all area students (preschool through 12th grade.)

On Wednesday night, Jan. 21, students and other members of the public are welcome to help "pack the gym" during the two games against Iowa Central. The Laker Women's game will start at 5:30 p.m. and the Laker Men will play at 7:30 p.m.  The Iowa Lakes Alumni and Friends Association will offer a "tailgate" meal of pizza, bars, pop and coffee for $4 per person.  Serving will be from 5 - 7:30 p.m. That evening the Iowa Lakes Singers and the Drill
Team will perform.  Bingo will be played by the Alumni & Friends during halftime.  During the evening, students may get their face painted (or receive a temporary tattoo) by the Iowa Lakes Biology and Art clubs.  In addition, the Iowa Lakes Bookstore will be selling Laker apparel.  Students in K-12 will be eligible for door prize drawings.

On Saturday, Jan. 24, the Laker Women will take on Marshalltown at 4 p.m. Halftime entertainment will be the Iowa Lakes Drill Team.  The Laker Men will play at 6 p.m. against Clinton.  Halftime entertainment will include bingo sponsored by the Alumni & Friends group.  Also, the winners of the dorm and window decorating contests will be announced.  During the evening, students may get their face painted (or receive a temporary tattoo) by the
Iowa Lakes Biology and Art clubs.  In addition, the Iowa Lakes Bookstore will be selling Laker apparel.  Students in K-12 will be eligible for door prizes.
