KATHIE SNOW HEADLINES EARLY CHILDHOOD
CONFERENCE
A Texas woman who
believes new attitudes and perceptions are key for the advancement
of children with disabilities will be the featured speaker at the
Northwest Iowa Early Childhood Conference in February.
Kathie Snow will speak at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28. She
will be the kick-off speaker to a daylong series of workshops and
inspirational sessions for child care professionals, teachers,
parents and the general public.
Snow is a zealous promoter of new ways of thinking about children
and adults with disabilities. She is the mother of a son who has
cerebral palsy. Snow uses common sense, humor, and a bit of a
Texas rebellious spirit to enlighten and entertain participants in
workshops across the United States and Canada. She challenges the
old ways of thinking, and helps daycare professionals and parents,
acquire new perceptions and attitudes. Snow's appearance is
funded, in part, by an Iowa SCRIPT Grant.
Participants attending the conference will have more than 25
workshops from which to choose. Some sessions include: Positive
Care Giving; Make It - Take It Big Books; Parents as Teachers;
Familiar Stories with a Twist; Fun, Fun for Everyone; and, What do
You do With the Mad that You Feel?
Participants are sure to get their creative juices flowing. One
session, entitled "Pancakes, Flapjacks, Griddle Cakes and More,"
is being featured as 'an adventure filled hour about pancakes.'
The instructor will share a variety of activities with a pancake
theme for all areas of the curriculum. Those attending will gather
ideas for areas such as art, language, creative
movement, math, science, literature and many others.
