duane syverson Memorial Scholarship
Iowa Lakes Community College
has awarded the 2003-04 Duane Syverson Memorial Scholarship to
Jared Beenken of Buffalo Center.
Jared is a
full-time traditional student at the Emmetsburg Campus, enrolled
in his first year of the Construction Technology Program. He is
scheduled to complete his second year in the program and graduate
in May 2005. Following graduation Jared plans to enter the
construction work force, possibly working with his brother who is
also an alumnus of the Iowa Lakes Construction Technology
Program.
“I would like to
thank the Syverson family for helping me financially to continue
in the Construction Tech Program. I feel honored to have been
chosen to receive it,” stated Jared.
The Duane Syverson Memorial Scholarship was
established by his wife Marilyn and family members. Duane worked
in the Estherville area for over 40 years as a mason doing
concrete and brick work. This scholarship has been established to
reinvest in the building profession, and to encourage others to
enjoy this career. Qualified candidates must be incoming freshmen
enrolled full time in the Construction Technology Program.
Traditional or non-traditional students who are in good academic
standing with his/her high school are encouraged to apply.
Those interested in
applying for Iowa Lakes Community College Scholarships are
