IOWA LAKES COMMUNITY COLLEGE AWARDS EMMETSBURG
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT SCHOLARSHIP

Iowa Lakes Community College has awarded the 2003-04 Emmetsburg Knights of Columbus Hospitality Management Scholarship to Josh Vlietstra of Orange City.

Josh is a traditional full-time sophomore student enrolled in the Hotel & Restaurant Management Program at the Emmetsburg Campus.  Upon graduating in May 2004, he plans to relocate to Sioux Falls, S.D. and eventually manage a hotel.

Josh stated, "I would like to thank the Knights of Columbus for establishing this scholarship.  It is an honor to have my hard work and dedication recognized."

The Emmetsburg Council 936 of the Knights of Columbus is a service organization dedicated to the support of church, youth, family and community.  The Knights of Columbus were founded in 1882 in New Haven, Conn. by Father Michael J. McGivney.  The Emmetsburg Council will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2005.  During the year the local council assists with or supports Auctionfest, youth trips, CAASA, Free Throw Contest, Punt Pass and Kick Contest, blood drives, and Head Start just to name a few.

Those interested in applying for Iowa Lakes Community College Scholarships are encouraged to do so by April 1, 2004.  Those wishing to apply for or establish scholarships should contact Beth Kraft at the Iowa Lakes Community College Institutional Advancement/Foundations Office at 712-362-0410 or 800-242-5106 Ext. 410 or e-mail bkraft@iowalakes.edu.
