Iowa Lakes Community College Announces The Gene Leonard Memorial Scholarship Recipients

Iowa Lakes Community College has announced the 2004-05 Gene Leonard Memorial Scholarship recipients.

The students from Iowa Lakes Community College receiving the scholarships are Jessica Bonner, Jessica Byriel, Melinda Hamerlinck, Catina Hansen, Amy Koenecke, Kathryn Kraft, Angela Myers, Kristin Porter, Kathryn Johnson, Amy Barie and Adam Arends of Estherville; Brittney Currans, Andrew Gappa, Lisa Walters, Dulcie Handeland, Amanda Long, Kimberly Marges, Trisha Pelzer, Timothy Powers of Emmetsburg; Jonathan Harris, Megan Murphy, and Nicole Williamson of Ruthven; Ashley Jensen, Terry McGrauth, Elizabeth Hauge, and Christopher Subbert of Graettinger; and, Anna Terveer of Ayrshire.

Students attending Iowa State University include: Kristi Prust, and Jessica Bates of Estherville; Kyle Lindahl of Ruthven; Mitch Corley and Brad Jurrens of Emmetsburg; Caleb Rose of Graettinger; and students attending the University of Northern Iowa include: Jeffrey Swanson and Jennifer Swanson of Emmetsburg.

Other students receiving Leonard Scholarships (and the college they are attending) include: Benjamin Haywood of Emmetsburg at Buena Vista University; Kathryn Nelson of Emmetsburg at Kirkwood Community College; Sarah Molitor of Ruthven at LaJames International College; Stacy Poe of Emmetsburg at LaJames Cosmetology College; Justin Zeigler of Emmetsburg at Luther College; Jacqueline Kinnetz of Emmetsburg at Morningside College; Mandy Bisenius of Emmetsburg at the University of Iowa; Alex Williamson of Ruthven at the University of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Jacob Naig of Emmetsburg at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Neb.; Rebecca Fog of Emmetsburg at Waldorf College; and, Laura Fog of Emmetsburg at Wartburg College.

The Gene Leonard Memorial Scholarships are funded by a trust to provide financial assistance to northwest Palo Alto County and southwest Emmet County students planning to attend Iowa Lakes Community College or any other college. Gene’s love for people and desire to make a difference in young peoples’ lives was motivation to make scholarships available to students in the area of his residence.
