TRADITIONAL COURSES GET A NEW SPIN

New music classes have been added to the online course lineup available through Iowa Lakes Community College.

Traditionally, music classes have only been available to students who can physically attend classes at one of the Iowa Lakes campuses. Now, students can receive three music classes online. And, if desired, they can complete an Associate in Arts degree entirely online.

Music Appreciation has been taught online by Carol Ayres since the spring semester of 2001. Music Theory, taught by Brett Fuelberth, was added this fall. Jazz History and Appreciation, taught by Carol Ayres, will be offered in the Spring of 2005.

Iowa Lakes is one of seven Iowa Community Colleges that partnered together in the fall of 2000 to offer online courses. Called the Iowa Community College Online Consortium, this group of colleges has received accreditation from the North Central Association (NCA) to provide accredited courses for a two-year degree.

For more information, students may visit the consortium’s Web site at www.iowacconline.org.
