IOWA LAKES COMMUNITY COLLEGE AWARDS MATT HUNT
MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Iowa Lakes Community College has awarded the 2004-05 Matt Hunt Memorial Scholarship to recipient Shannon Baker of Estherville.

Baker is enrolled full time in the Arts & Science Program at the Estherville Campus. Upon his graduation in May 2006 he plans to transfer to a four year institution to attain a degree in business and play baseball.

“This award is such an honor. It means I won’t have to work as many hours to afford school, I will be able to concentrate on my studies,” said Baker.

This scholarship, sponsored by PepsiAmericas of Estherville, was established in memory of Matt, who graduated from Iowa Lakes. He enjoyed playing baseball for the Lakers and was employed by Pepsi at the time of his death. Usually awarded to a returning sophomore baseball player who graduated from a high school located in Emmet, Kossuth, Clay, Palo Alto, Dickinson or Martin counties; the selection committee reserves the right to extend the area or criteria as needed.

Those interested in applying for this scholarship, or in establishing a scholarship in memory or in honor of a loved one are asked to contact Shan Ray Iowa Lakes Institutional Advancement / Foundations Office Executive Director at 712-362-0491 or 800-242-5106 ext. 491.
