IOWA LAKES STUDENT IS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

An Iowa Lakes Community College basketball player has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference “Athlete of the Week.”

Kurt Hesse is a freshman guard from Wapsie Valley High School and is originally from Readlyn. Kurt came to Iowa Lakes after being named to the first team all-state team his senior year at Wapsie Valley.

Hesse is a 6’3” 190 pound guard who can ‘shoot the lights out.’ He did just that Saturday, Dec. 18 on the road against Riverland Community College. Hesse scored 30 points, including 7 three-pointers, and he also had two rebounds and two assists. Kurt is the leading scorer for the Lakers this year, contributing about 15 points per contest, while shooting nearly 40 percent from beyond the 3-point line.
