DEADLINE NEARS FOR PALO ALTO
COUNTY SCHOLARSHIP
GOLF OUTING BENEFITING AREA STUDENTS
Those interested in golfing in the Palo Alto
County Scholarship Golf Outing will want to get
their registrations in soon.
The outing benefits students from Palo Alto
County who attend Iowa Lakes Community College.
It will be held at the Emmetsburg Country Club
on Friday, August 20. Registration will begin
at 11 a.m. with a shot gun start at Noon.
"This year, we're going to have twice as much
fun because we're making it an 18-hole event,"
said Bill Lapczenski, one of the volunteers
helping to organize the outing.
In addition, the college has been pleased with
the support it has received from area businesses
which have provided donations to be given away
at the outing.
A hole-in-one contest where one lucky individual
could receive $2,500 in cash and a donation in
their name to the college foundation is being
sponsored again by Hughes, Brennan and Wirtz
Inc.
As of early August, other golf outing sponsors
include: Iowa Trust & Savings Bank; Agri-Services
of Northern Iowa Inc. (ASI); Ken's Auto & Golf;
Pepsi Americas of Estherville; Scott Telephone
and Telecommunications; Teton Ranch Corporation;
Schwartz Chiropractic and Acupuncture;
Frevert-Ramsey-Kobes Architects-Engineers; State
Bank of Spencer/Everly/Peterson, Security
National Bank of Sioux City; Emmetsburg
Publishing; Wells Fargo Bank; and, Farm Credit
Services of America.
Additional gifts include a two-night stay at the
Lakeside Casino/Resort in Osceola donated by the
Palo Alto Development Corporation and the
Lakeside Resort; a cooler of assorted meats
donated by the Ruthven Meat Processing Inc.; a
pair of binoculars with digital camera; a bag
chair; and a stadium chair, just to name a few.
Area businesses interested in sponsoring a hole
at the event are asked to contact Beth Kraft at
1-800-242-5106 ext. 410.
The golf outing will feature the Best Shot
Format. Following the event there will be a
short awards program with a meal.
Proceeds from the Aug. 20 event will fund
programs and scholarships for Palo Alto County
residents attending Iowa Lakes Community
College.
