IOWA LAKES PROFESSOR SELECTED FOR AN AWARD
An Iowa Lakes Community College professor has been honored with a
statewide award for excellence in teaching and learning.
Kathy Skelly, assistant professor of social science, was honored
following a conference in Newton yesterday, April 1.
The awards ceremony was held at the completion of a teaching and
learning leadership program for community college faculty. The
conference offered participants a chance to share exemplary
programs and strategies that can be applied to teaching and
learning practices.
The conference was organized by Iowa State University’s Department
of Educational Leadership and Policy studies.
“I would like to thank Don Schouten, Professor, Iowa Lakes
Community College, for the wonderful mentoring that he has given
me since I became a faculty member,” Skelly said.
Skelly was one of only 15 professors in the state to receive the
award. She received her higher education from the University of
Minnesota at Mankato. She has worked at Iowa Lakes since 1998.
