EXECUTIVE DEAN CANDIDATES TO BE INTERVIEWED
Four individuals have been selected to interview for the position
of Executive Dean at the Emmetsburg Campus of Iowa Lakes Community
College.
Those to be interviewed (in order of their interview dates) are
Glen Williams, Dee Ann Wilcox, Larry Griffin and Thomas Brotherton.
Glen E. Williams, is currently the Dean of Transportation
Occupations at Southeast Community College in Milford, Neb., where
he has worked for the past five years. Prior to that, he was
self-employed as a co-owner of Williams Sales and Service in
Ashland, Neb. He also has experience working as a service director
for Classic Cadillac out of Omaha as well as experience with the
Chevrolet Motor Division in numerous locations in several Midwest
offices. Williams started his career as a Vocational Education
teacher at Tekamah Herman High School in Tekamah, Neb. Williams
received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska –
Lincoln; his master’s degree from the University of Central,
Okla.; and, is currently working on his Ph.D. at UNL. He will be
in Emmetsburg Sept. 22-23 for his interview.
On Sept. 23-24, Dee Ann Wilcox, Ph.D., will be interviewed for the
position of Executive Dean. Wilcox is the Dean of Arts and
Sciences at William Penn University in Oskaloosa. Prior to that,
she was the Chair of Academic Affairs at Montgomery County
Community College in Pottstown, Penn., for six years. She also
worked at Harrisburg Area Community College as the Director of
Educational Services for five years; was an Assistant Dean at
Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science in Philadelphia,
Penn., for three years; and, was an Associate Dean at St. Louis
University for four years. Wilcox received her bachelor’s and
master’s degrees from Wichita State University in Wichita, Kan.,
and her Ph.D., from Washington University in St. Louis.
The third person to be interviewed will be Larry D. Griffin,
Ph.D., on Sept. 25-26. Griffin has served as the Dean of Arts and
Sciences as well as a Professor of English at Dyersburg State
Community College in Dyersburg, Tenn., for the past six years. In
1973, Griffin began his career as a Graduate Teaching Associate in
the English Department at the University of Oklahoma. He was
promoted and took a job as Assistant Director to the Film Program
at the University of Oklahoma. He has also taught at a
correctional center to prepare clients to pass their GED. He
returned to the college level in 1981 when he became an English
Instructor at Midland College and was later promoted to Chair of
Fine Arts and Communications Studies at Midland. Griffin received
his bachelor’s degree in English from Northeastern State
University in Oklahoma. His master’s degree was earned at the
University of Oklahoma. He also achieved his Ph. D. at the
University of Oklahoma.
Thomas Brotherton is currently a Director of Arts and Sciences at
Southwestern Community College in Creston. Prior to that, he was
an instructor of Biological Sciences at Southwestern. He also
taught at the middle school/high school level in the
Shelby-Tennant Community School District; and, worked for Iowa
State University’s Extension Service. Brotherton earned his
bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa in botany
education. He also attended the Graduate College at the U of I in
Secondary Science Education. Brotherton’s master’s degree is in
Biology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He will
interview for the Executive Dean position Sept. 30-Oct. 1.
These individuals were selected to be interviewed following a
nationwide search. Currently, Val Newhouse, Vice President of
Administration, is serving as the Interim Executive Dean of the
Emmetsburg Campus.
