IOWA LAKES BOARD OF TRUSTEES
MEET STUDENT LEADERS
The
Board of Trustees of Iowa Lakes Community College met the
2003-2004 student leaders of the college at their monthly meeting
Wednesday night in Estherville.
Students who will be serving as
student senators and resident assistants as well as Presidential
Scholars and student-athletes were introduced to the board. The
student leaders talked about why they selected Iowa Lakes and the
duties of their specific roles. Students on hand included:
Leesie Braswell of Victor; Cory Flint of Okoboji; Erin Jones of
Cedar Rapids; Laura Peters of Spencer; and, Jamie Pedersen of
LuVerne. Those involved in Student Senate talked about the
variety of leadership opportunities available to students. All
campuses and centers have student senate members who plan
activities and coordinate events for their individual locations.
This year the Emmetsburg Campus Student Senate is led by Jamie
Pedersen of LuVerne, while Mike Plathe of Algona is the president
at the Estherville Campus.
A public hearing was also held at the
meeting concerning the sale of a portion of the lower level of the
Spencer Center. Property on the lower level of the facility sold
for $25,500.
In other routine business, the
Trustees approved 260F retraining agreements; held the first
reading of policy revisions; approved the amended articles of
incorporation and 28-E agreement for the college’s participation
in an updated Management Information System; and, heard reports
from the several committees.
The next meeting of the Iowa Lakes
Board of Trustees will be Tuesday, Oct. 21 in Estherville.
