COLLEGE AND CITY PLAN OPEN HOUSE
FOR ESTHERVILLE AIRPORT

An open house has been scheduled for early next month to show off the improvements at the Estherville Municipal Airport.

Over the summer months, the airport runway was “white-topped” with a six-inch concrete overlay.  In addition, the taxiways to the run-up pads were extended and the run-up pads were enlarged.

While that work was under way, Iowa Lakes Community College was updating buildings for its aviation program.  The newly-acquired hangar’s office and storage areas were remodeled and a flight instructor conference room was added.  In addition, the college’s flight center was expanded by an additional 50 percent and had the exterior updated.

The open house will take place from 2-5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7 at the airport.  Light refreshments will be served in the new Iowa Lakes hangar facility.  The public is invited to attend.

Estherville Aviation will provide airplane rides at a cost of  $18 per person.

Several drawings will be held throughout the afternoon.  Estherville Aviation will offer two, free airplane rides.  That drawing will be held at 3 p.m. and winners must be present to accept the prize.  The Iowa Lakes Aviation program will offer a free sweatshirt.

Iowa Lakes Community College’s Aviation program is the only two-year program in the state with its own independent flight training department.
