COLLEGE SHOWS OFF GIS PROGRAM AT REGIONAL
CONFERENCE
The cutting-edge Geographic Information Systems program at Iowa
Lakes Community College was featured recently at a regional
conference.
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a combination of maps and
databases that are used by natural resources experts and local
government agencies to solve problems involving natural resources
and land information.
Chad Goings, program instructor and coordinator, traveled to Sioux
City in early October to be a part of the Siouxland GIS Users'
Group Conference. At the conference, Goings had the opportunity
to show off the Iowa Lakes program, which is the only two-year,
general focus GIS program in the state.
The conference gave Goings the opportunity to meet with several
county government agencies which have a need for future employees
or interns.
