Recipient of Matt Hunt Memorial Scholarship Named

The 2003-2004 recipient of the Matt Hunt Memorial Scholarship has been named.  Daniel Wellik of Forest City was selected for the scholarship.

The Matt Hunt Memorial Scholarship, sponsored by Pepsi Americas of Estherville, was established in remembrance of Matt, an Iowa Lakes alumni and baseball player, who was employed by Pepsi at the time of his death. This scholarship is awarded annually to a second year baseball player.

Wellik is a full-time traditional student at the Estherville Campus of Iowa Lakes Community College who will graduate in the spring of 2004.  After graduation, Daniel is planning on continuing his education at a four-year institute majoring in psychology or post-secondary education.

"Receiving this scholarship really means a lot to me," said Wellik.  "It lets me know that someone really believes in me, and my future."
