Family Farm Seminar to be Offered At Iowa Lakes

Ag students at Iowa Lakes Community College and their families are invited to attend an Ag-Link seminar to develop skills and practices to keep them connected to the family farm.

The two-day seminar is schedule for Nov. 18 and 19 at the Emmetsburg Campus of Iowa Lakes.  The Beginning Farmer Center, Iowa State University Extension, Iowa Lakes Community College Campbell, Higgins and Associates P.C. and Resolution Solution Consulting Services are sponsoring this event.

“Finding ways to integrate the young farmers into family operations continues to be a goal of ours,” said Dr. Scott Mickelsen, instructor of the Agriculture Production Technology classes.  “We are very fortunate to partner with the Beginning Farmer Center on this project.  They have been a leader in developing and implementing a quality program to help sustain the family farm in Iowa.

While the program is targeted toward Iowa Lakes students and their families, other interested individuals and families are welcome to attend.  Cost of the seminar is $50 per family.  Those interested in attending may contact Dr. Mickelsen at (712) 852-5277; 1-800-242-5108 ext. 277; or smickelsen@iowalakes.edu.
