IOWA LAKES LAKER/ALUMNI GAME SET FOR SATURDAY

The Iowa Lakes Community College Athletic Department is sponsoring the annual Youth Basketball/Drug Awareness Clinic preceding the men’s Lakers vs. Alumni Basketball game this Saturday, Nov. 2.  The youth clinic will be held at 4:30 p.m. (doors will be open at 4 p.m.) with the expected tip-off of the game to be at 6 p.m.  All area youth are encouraged to attend and enjoy instruction in the fundamentals of the game from the Iowa Lakes men’s basketball players.

For the fans, this Alumni vs. Lakers game will be the first look at the 2002-2003 Iowa Lakes men’s basketball team, which has been practicing since October.  It is also a time when fans may be able to catch some of their favorite players from previous years.  Alumni Laker players expected to be on the floor are Todd Hough, Graettinger; Scott Stokes, Cedar Falls; Todd Fazio, Des Moines; Tory Meiborg, Cedar Rapids; Ryan Faulstick, Mankato, Minn.; Lester Allen, Cedar Falls; Travis Sohn, Sioux Rapids; Todd Kramer, Spencer; Ben Brant, Minneapolis, Minn.; Brent Horsley, Brookings, South Dakota; and, Todd Kasperbauer, Carroll; along with other former Laker stand-outs.

After the game an invitation is extended to meet at the party room of Mother Nature’s in Estherville for the Iowa Lakes Alumni & Friends Membership Drive Party.  Food, music, door prizes, and a raffle will be featured.  New memberships will be welcomed and old acquaintances renewed.  Membership gifts are the association’s main source of income to support Alumni Scholarships and events through the academic year for the college, students, parents and the public.  The association was established in 1989 to promote loyalty to the college, as well as support students through scholarships and special activities.
