27, 2002 PANCAKE BREAKFAST TO BENEFIT LEARNING TRIP FOR STUDENTS Area residents are encouraged to attend a pancake breakfast on Sunday, December 8 at Iowa Lakes Community College to benefit students taking a trip to Brazil. Five students in the Ag Production Technology program – along with their instructor Dr. Scott Mickelsen – will travel to Brazil to experience agriculture production during their 2003 Spring Break. Students have been raising money on their own – and are now asking the public to assist them in securing their visas for overseas travel. “Each visa costs $150 per student,” said Dr. Mickelsen. “I’m proud of the excitement and enthusiasm that this international experience is generating in the communities in which our students live. We’ve had elevators donate money and many community members have stepped forward and pledged their support.” Serving on Dec. 8 will be from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the college cafeteria on the Emmetsburg Campus. The menu includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, eggs, sausage, juice and coffee for $5 for adults and $3 for children 8 and under. The college is located at 3200 College Drive. |
