December 20, 2002 GRUVER MAN IS SYVERSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT Wesley Baddeley, a full-time traditional freshman at Iowa Lakes Community College, has been named the 2002-03 Duane Syverson Memorial Scholarship recipient. Baddeley is enrolled in the Construction Technology program at the Emmetsburg Campus. Duane Syverson’s wife, Marilyn, and family members established this scholarship in an effort to encourage others to enjoy a career in construction. Duane worked in the Estherville area for over 40 years as a mason doing concrete and brick work. A qualified candidate for this scholarship must be an incoming freshman traditional or non-traditional, enrolled full time in the Construction Technology Program with a GPA in good standing. Baddeley noted, “This scholarship has helped me out financially with my first year at Iowa Lakes. I would like to thank the Syverson family for this opportunity.” After his graduation in May 2004 with his diploma in the Construction Technology Program and his Associate degree, Baddeley says he’s currently undecided as to whether he will continue his education or enter the construction field right away. Those interested in applying for this or other Iowa Lakes Community College Scholarships or those wishing to establish a scholarship are asked to contact Beth Kraft at the Iowa Lakes Community College Institutional Advancement/Foundations Office at 712-362-0410 or 800-242-5106 Ext. 410 or e-mail bkraft@iowalakes.edu. |
