December 13, 2002 PROPERTY
SOLD, BIDS TO BE LET FOR The Board of Trustees of Iowa Lakes Community College has agreed to sell property owned by the college in Emmetsburg. A public auction was held earlier this month and the Trustees approved the high bid of $24,000 at their meeting Tuesday night. Also, the Trustees approved plans for a new Student Center at the Estherville Campus and agreed to have bids let for construction of the facility. Bids are expected back Feb. 11 and action is likely to take place at the Feb. 18th meeting. If the project stays on course, ground breaking would be held in the spring of 2003. The Iowa Lakes Report was coordinated by Bill Lapczenski (Lap-chin-ski) who introduced staff who highlighted on-campus housing and foodservice. Bob Roethler (Rowth-ler) and Jason Vande Brake (Van-dah-brock) talked about housing opportunities on the Emmetsburg and Estherville Campuses respectively. Foodservice managers from each campus followed them. Steve Olerich (Oh-lure-ick) and Sandy Naig (N’egg) explained the meal plan options available to students as well as special banquet services offered at the campuses. In other business, the Trustees accepted the fiscal year 2002 audit; and, approved the lease of a college building to the Estherville Chamber of Commerce. Later in the meeting, the Trustees approved new hires; heard reports from fellow members on committees and councils; as well as other routine reports from staff. The next meeting will be held Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003. |
