FEATURES DAILY “EXPERTS” Six state-of-the-art college programs will be at The Stables west of the barns on the Clay County Fairgrounds Monday through Friday. Instructors and students will talk to fair goers and demonstrate various activities that are involved in their respective programs. The programs include: Farm Equipment and Diesel Technology on Monday, Sept. 9; Automotive Technology as well as Marine, Motorcycle and Small Engine Technology on Tuesday, Sept. 10; Agriculture Production Technology on Wednesday, Sept. 11; Environmental Studies on Thursday, Sept. 12; and, Criminal Justice on Friday, Sept. 13. On Monday, Farm Equipment and Diesel Technology will be the featured program. Instructors of the program will demonstrate new technology related to farm machinery and diesel engines. The day that Automotive Technology is at the Stables, instructors will cover career opportunities, bring testing equipment and, hopefully bring along a vehicle to show the latest in “under the hood” technology. That day will also feature the Motorcycle, Marine and Small Engine programs. Individuals who enjoy working on small engines will want to make certain they stop by that day. Ag Production Technology will be the highlighted program on Wednesday. They will cover topics concerning the latest in beef, swine and crop issues to include health and management technology topics as well as the relationship between weather conditions and crop yields. The Environmental Studies day will offer attendees an opportunity to learn more about ground water pollution and the techniques used to monitor common water pollutants. Fairgoers are encouraged to bring a sample of water from their water supply well to have it tested. On Friday, the Criminal Justice program will demonstrate the latest statewide system which helps law enforcement officers to generate collision reports and citations by computer and coordinate efforts between counties and the State of Iowa. In addition, parents or guardians who would like to have their children fingerprinted may do so. |
