2001 INFORMATION CLASS ON THE ALGONA POW CAMP PLANNED Iowa Lakes Community College is offering an informational history class on the Algona Prisoner of War (POW) Camp. This is an excellent opportunity for people of all ages to learn about the role Kossuth County played in World War II. Discussion
topics will be “Algona: ‘Hub’ of the Branch System,” “Effect of
Camp Algona on Kossuth County,” “Camp Algona Oral Histories,” and
“The Gift: The Nativity Scene.” The
class will meet from 9 a.m. to11a.m., Mondays: Oct. 8, 15, 22 and 29. Jerry
Yocum will be the discussion leader for the classes.
Yocum has spent his summer working with the museum project and
recording oral histories relating to Kossuth County and World War II.
Included in the oral histories discussion will be information on
