NEW HOUSING/MEN’S BASKETBALL/INTRAMURAL STAFF MEMBER SELECTED AT IOWA LAKES

A new assistant men’s basketball coach, intramural director and housing manager will be recommended for employment this month to the Board of Trustees at Iowa Lakes Community College.

Jason Vande Brake, a former Iowa Lakes student and basketball standout, will begin work immediately.  Vande Brake is a native of Orange City, where he was an all-state performer on the court for MOC-Floyd Valley High School.  He attended Iowa Lakes from 1996-1998.  He was a two-year starter on the basketball team and gained all-region honors for Laker Head Coach Darin Moeller on the 1997-98 squad that finished with a 24-7 record.

Vande Brake continued his education at Drake University where he was a member of the basketball program both as a player and as a student assistant.  He received his bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from Drake in December of 2000 and spent this past spring as a substitute, teaching in the Des Moines area while serving on Drake’s basketball staff.
