HEARTLAND 2001 SUMMER DISCOVERY CAMP DEADLINE NEARS

The deadline is nearing for middle school students interested in participating in the overnight camp at Iowa Lakes Community College later this month.

The Heartland 2001 Summer Discovery Camp features lots of fun with learning activities for four days and three nights starting July 30th.

Recently, the staff for the camp was finalized. Counselors will include Stacy Lofstrom of Lakota and Stuart Kennedy of Bancroft, who are both returning for their second year.  They will be joined by first-timers Danille Studer of Titonka, Terry Jorgenson of Emmetsburg, Jason Upton of Marshalltown and Ryan Ohlson of Cedar Falls.  Instructors include returners Mary Foth of Algona, Mary Jo Lofstrom of Lakota and Kristen Roeber of Emmetsburg.  Anne Sexe of Estherville will join the veterans in her first year as an instructor.

The on-campus experience is for young people entering 6th-8th grades in the Fall of 2001.  Students will have the opportunity to experience hands-on learning, adventure and fun while staying on the Estherville campus.

The camp cost of $160 includes a T-shirt, all meals, tuition, social activities, supplies and lodging.

Those interested in participating are encouraged to contact camp director Rick Brant at 1-800-242-5108 ext. 338 or at (712) 852-5338 to ensure there is space for them in the camp.
