CLASS PLANNED ON GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES

The college credit course called GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES will be offered during the Spring semester on Wednesdays from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the Iowa Lakes Community College Kossuth County Center in Algona.

“In light of the events of September 11th, a study of world issues seems not only more pertinent, but necessary,” said Jerry Yocum, instructor for the course.

The course will consider some of the following questions:

  1. Why does it seem that certain groups hate America so much?

  2. What are the consequences of the use of military power? What are the consequences of non-military strategy?

  3. What should be the role of the United States in formulated a world agenda?

  4. How do we determine our ‘national interest’?

  5. How did the world evolve into a race between the haves and the have nots?

  6. Is the term ‘globalization’ something that should concern Americans?

  7. Can the United States be the ‘world policeman’? Should we be the ‘world policeman’?

  8. How many nations effectively manage their conflicts in a way that ensures development?

Interested individuals may register at any of the Iowa Lakes locations in Algona, Emmetsburg, Estherville, Spencer or Spirit Lake. The course begins January 9 and will be held in Algona.
