The Farm Lab of Iowa Lakes Community College will host its annual Farm Expo on Thursday, Sept. 19. As in the past, the Palo Alto Corn and Soybean Association will partner with the college for their Field Day.
The newest venture at the Farm Lab will be the featured event of this year’s gathering. A new Swine Training Center was constructed over the past few months. The step was taken following consultation with experts in the industry as to the newest trends in swine facilities.
All area residents, as well as past Ag program alumni of Iowa Lakes, are invited to tour the new Swine Training Center from 3-4:15 p.m. and then join in the Ribbon Cutting for the new facility at 4:15 p.m. Tours of the Palo Alto Corn and Soybean Growers Association plot as well as the Iowa Lakes Farm Lab will take place from 3-7 p.m. Dinner will be served from 5-6 p.m.
Dinner will be held following the Ribbon Cutting on the Swine Training Center. During that time, agricultural partners with Iowa Lakes will be recognized.
The emphasis of the Palo Alto Corn and Soybean Association Field Day is on technology with a focus on the future. Attendees may tour the field throughout the entire event (from 3-7 p.m.) Companies with field varieties in the plot include Wyffels, Wensman, Stine, SOI, Pioneer, NK, LG, Latham, Garst, DeKalb, Croplan, Channel, Asgrow and Agrigold.
