An Iowa Lakes Community College Landscape and Turfgrass student has received a scholarship from the Iowa Nursery and Landscape Association (INLA).
Ashley Ove, Spirit Lake, received the scholarship at the INLA Association scholarship dinner in Ames. The $500 award is an acknowledgment of her achievements in course work at the college and in recognition of her ability to continue to promote the industry in the state of Iowa in future years.
The awards were given during the combined conference of the ISU Shade Tree Short Course/Iowa Nursery and Landscape Association Convention. The event was an opportunity for attendees to meet people in the horticulture industry and to hear speakers from across the nation.
“It was such a pleasure being invited to the Iowa Nursery & Landscape Association Conference and Trade Show and the 58th Annual Iowa State University Shade Tree Short Course,” Ove said.
“The INLA Dinner and Auction was amazing, it was wonderful to see so many people uniting with a shared interest in the future of the landscaping and nursery industries.”
She added, “I feel extremely privileged to have been chosen as a recipient of one of the scholarships the INLA awarded this year. I am eager to attend the ISU Shade Tree Short Course and INLA Conference and Trade Show in years to come."
The Landscape and Turfgrass Technology program is a two-year Associate in Applied Science program. Students receive three, on-the-job training experiences at a business of their choice.
