One of the premiere golf courses in the Midwest will be the site of the first ever Laker Scramble Golf Outing. The event will be held on Friday, September 27, at Brooks National Golf Course in Okoboji, home course to the Laker men's and women's golf teams. The Laker Scramble will generate scholarship funds for the 300 plus student athletes that compete collegiately for Iowa Lakes Community College.
Golfer registration begins at 8 a.m. on that Friday, with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The event will feature an 18-hole four-person best shot tournament format. Entry fee is $100 per golfer or $400 per four-person team and includes green fees, cart (if requested), pasta bar meal, Laker Athletic T-shirt and a scholarship fund donation.
At the event, there will be current student athletes who will be greeting participants at various locations on the course, along with the opportunity to participate in fund raising games that can create a “lower score” and further support athletic scholarships.
Non-golfers who would like an opportunity to meet the coaches and student athletes can attend the pasta bar meal for $12 per person. The meal will be served from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Meal tickets may be purchased by calling 712-362-0425.
Raffle tickets are also on sale. The winner of the raffle will receive four tickets to the Iowa / Wisconsin game on Nov. 2. The tickets are in section 124 of Kinnick Stadium and include a one night’s stay at the Kirkwood Hotel. Tickets are $5 each or 3 for $10. For more information or to purchase raffle tickets contact the Institutional Advancement office at 362-0425, the Iowa Lakes Athletic office at 362-7907 or the Dean of Students office at 362-7969.
