The roster for the 2012-2013 Men’s Soccer Team at Iowa Lakes Community College has been announced.
Ammon Bennett, Head Men’s Soccer Coach says it will include five returning players and 20 new athletes who will compete for the Lakers.
The coaches are very pleased with the players coming in this fall and are pleased with results from practices which began Aug. 9.
“The returning players – along with the new group – will bring a great deal of technical ability and a big background in club soccer,” Bennett said. “This along with a decent international group of players should put us in contention for a run at the region title.”
The Lakers return Starting Keeper Tanner Collins, all region performer Jaycon Yeates, midfielders Jared Rowell and Aristides Meija and Dilan Mathys. (Mathys was out with a knee injury last season.)
“Our returners will be key to our success but will have to work hard to keep the starting positions that they had last year as our incoming group is very talented,” Coach Bennett stated.
The schedule is a challenging one for the Lakers as it features several ranked teams including conference rivals, Iowa Western, Iowa Central, North Iowa Area Community College, Marshalltown, Indian Hills and Scott Community College.
“The schedule is highly competitive and should challenge us and hopefully prepare us for the post season,” he said.
