Iowa Lakes Student Receives Scholarship from Siouxland Golf Course Superintendents Association

March 28, 2013

An Iowa Lakes Community College Landscape and Turfgrass student has received a scholarship from the Siouxland Golf Course Superintendents Association (SGCSA).

Dylan Konechne, Kimball, S.D., was awarded a scholarship for the spring semester. The scholarship was in recognition of his achievements in his studies at the college and his future career in the golf course industry.

“I’m thankful to have received this scholarship since any financial aid helps me with college expenses,” Konechne said.

He is looking forward to his first internship at a golf course in northwest Iowa. Some of his responsibilities while on his internship will include mowing fairways, greens, tees, rough and repairing the irrigation system along with some fertilizing.

The Landscape and Turfgrass Technology program is a two-year Associate in Applied Science program. Students receive three, on-the-job training experiences at a business of their choice.
