Individuals wishing to get ahead or catch up on classes with their four-year or community college will be interested in four week online classes held over the summer break through Iowa Lakes Community College.
A variety of transferable course work is available with classes beginning Monday, July 7, through Aug. 3.
Over 15 different courses are being offered. Most classes offered are general education requirements and transferable fitting into an AA degree. Courses are also transferable to four-year colleges and universities.
These courses contain the same amount of material as a normal 16 week term class, so it is recommended that students take only one course at a time.
The four week accelerated fully online classes are available through Iowa Lakes as part of the Iowa Community College Online Consortium.
“We have been offering a four week accelerated term during the winter break for the past two years and it has proved to be a great opportunity for students. Because of the success we’ve seen in these Winterim classes, we decided to offer a summer four week term,” said Theresa Zeigler, Director of Distance & Global Education.
Students take the online accelerated classes for an assortment of reasons. Some are interested in the courses to lighten their course load the following college semester; others use the classes to reach the goal of graduating early; while other students take this opportunity to ‘catch up.’
In addition, Iowa Lakes offers a variety of online accelerated terms during the fall and spring terms. Students can register for the traditional 16 week online term, an accelerated 1st or 2nd 8 week term or a 12 week term this fall.
