An Iowa Lakes Community College graduate – and founder of his own company – recently returned from a trip to the Republic of Turkey.
Ethan Hunter, Founder of Wind Academy Group, LLC, visited the Republic of Turkey and met with high ranking Government Officials. They included: Honorable Nabi AVCI, Minister of National Education of Republic of Turkey; Honorable Murat MERCAN, Deputy Minister of Energy; Mr. Burhan SAKALLI, Mayor of Odunpazari-Eskisehir; Bahadir Emir INAN, Chief of Cabinet of Odunpazi-Eskisehir; and, Mustafa Kemal BICERLI, General Manager of LifeLong Education Department.
Following that trip, an invitation has been sent for a special return visit to the Republic of Turkey.
Burhan SAKALLI, Mayor of Odunpazari-Eskisehir, has invited Iowa Lakes Community College President Valerie Newhouse to hold further discussions about Wind Academy Turkey. The hope is to continue to develop the project details by consulting with the Minister of National Education in regard to implementing a training program for their citizens.
The Turkish Government plans to provide the training at no cost to its citizens. The training program will be operated by Ethan Hunter. Training modules and competencies mirror the Iowa Lakes Community College Wind Energy and Turbine Technology program, which holds the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) Seal of Approval for its degree program.
The Turkish Government is planning to open academies throughout their country.
