Iowa Lakes Community College Soccer Announces 15 New Signees

March 21, 2013

Iowa Lakes Community College and Head Soccer Coach Ammon Bennett have announced the signing and commitments of 15 new women’s soccer players for the Lakers this upcoming season.
“We are so excited at the new group of athletes that will be joining our team; the quality of the individuals – both as students and athletes – is just simply awesome,” said Coach Bennett.  “We were able to address and commit every position that we needed; from the keeper position to defenders, midfielders and forwards; literally across the board, this is a very good recruiting class.  These young women, along with the returning group of sophomores, will make up a very fine team.”
The Lakers will be coming off of a season that saw them advancing to the region championship game and finishing with an overall record of 15-6. The team will be looking to win the region title this next year and advance to the National Championships in Florida.
“We feel we have made significant strides with this group of athletes. The quality of the high schools attended by these players and the club experience they have will go a long way,” stated Coach Bennett. “We also feel we will have improved on our overall depth which will help for a lot of inter squad competition.”
The Lakers soccer season in 2013 will be highlighted when the team takes on several nationally-ranked teams including: Laramie County (Wyoming), North Idaho College, Oakton (Illinois), Iowa Western, and Iowa Central. The team also plays in Minnesota early on in the College Kickoff Classic which features some of the top teams in the nation.  The full schedule will be released later this month.
“We are eager to get these young women here at Iowa Lakes Community College in early August when we begin our training,” added Coach Bennett.
