His friends recommended that he look at Iowa Lakes for any program in which he might be interested. He visited the college website and discovered the Massage Therapy program.
He expressed his appreciation for the kind welcome he received upon his arrival.
“The school year proved to be one of the most wonderful experiences I have had in my life,” Belgrave said. “In the midst of coping with moderate culture shock and an even bigger shock in terms of the weather here in Iowa, the Massage program was absolutely amazing.”
That education will help him in his next step.
When he completes the Massage Therapy program, he intends to stay in the area and transfer into the daytime Nursing program at the Emmetsburg campus starting this spring.
Also during the meeting, the Trustees gave the go-ahead to Bob L’Heureux,* Vice President of Administration, to implement a printing efficiency program. This will provide savings to the college’s budget and bring much needed new printing equipment to all campuses of the college. The five-year agreement is with A&B Business Solutions.
He also discussed the Fiscal Year 2015 operational budget with the Trustees who approved the $21.2 million budget.

In economic development matters, Jolene Rogers, Executive Director of Community and Business Relations, discussed economic development in this region. That included a resolution concerning additional action on the Issuance of Industrial New Jobs Training Certificates not to exceed $2.99 million which impact several firms throughout the region by providing needed training for new employees.
