Free help is being offered this coming Saturday (Feb. 22) to those who would like assistance in how to complete Financial Aid paperwork for college.
As part of a statewide effort of the Iowa Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, Iowa Lakes is providing a workshop from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Emmetsburg campus. Information on Financial Planning, Essays for Scholarships, Online Scholarship Tips and on completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) are available.
“This is an awesome opportunity for families who wish to complete the FAFSA and gain knowledge on other financial aid opportunities for college,” said Dr. Quincy Paden, Director, TRiO Programs at Iowa Lakes. “We’ll have experts on hand throughout the day to provide personal assistance to each family, including Spanish language speakers.”
The help is beneficial to everyone. Throughout the day, walk-in assistance from experts on how to complete the FAFSA will be offered in room 330 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Emmetsburg campus.
Those attending are encouraged to secure a federal personal identification number at www.pin.ed.gov before the event. And, they are asked to download a FAFSA worksheet which can be found at www.fafsa.gov.
In addition, a checklist of items to bring may be found at www.IowaCGS.org. Participants are encouraged to click on the ‘Resources’ tab and then open the ‘What to Bring’ document. Anyone with questions may contact Quincy Paden at 712-852-5302.
