Iowa Lakes Community College has named Jolene Rogers to the position of Executive Director of Community and Business Relations, effective July 1.
The vision of this new position is to strengthen the solid relationships Iowa Lakes has with businesses and individuals to benefit the existing and future workforce of this region.
“Jolene will enhance our relationships with businesses and industries which help fuel the economy of northwest Iowa,” said Valerie Newhouse, President of Iowa Lakes. “She brings experience and insightful knowledge to this position and hopes to build on an already strong foundation.”
Rogers will work with a seasoned staff at the college.
“The college has a dynamite staff,” Rogers said. “Our Continuing Education programmers have experience and have built great relationships already.”
Plans are under way to expand into new areas of interest and utilize emerging technologies.
“With the college’s expansion into energy-related degree programs, watch for local professional development opportunities,” Rogers said.
She appreciates the legacy which has been established by Clark Marshall, who is retiring.
“Clark has certainly left his imprint on northwest Iowa,” Rogers said.
Rogers expects a smooth transition as she has been meeting with staff members about their vision for the future.
She will solicit input from academic Advisory Boards, businesses, and many others to make workforce training and continuing education valuable resources to each community.
“I am looking forward to this opportunity and expanded responsibilities to serve the communities and individuals of the Iowa Lakes region,” Rogers said.
She expects to identify additional ways to collaborate and partner with area economic development efforts including those of Maureen Elbert, the Executive Director of the Kossuth/Palo Alto County Economic Development Corporation and Kathy Evert, Executive Director of Iowa Lakes Corridor Development.
