College officials are encouraging students heading for college this coming fall to apply for scholarships at Iowa Lakes Community College before the April 1, 2014, deadline.
“Through many donors Iowa Lakes has a large number of scholarships available for students,” said Tony Condon, Institutional Advancement Manager. “Eligibility requirements vary from scholarship to scholarship, but there is definitely something for everyone at Iowa Lakes.”
Condon went on to explain that some scholarships require financial need as determined by FAFSA results. When FAFSA data is examined students are often surprised to find that even though they don’t qualify for federal aid (Pell Grant), they do qualify for need based scholarships.
“Our need based scholarships are designed to benefit those students who ‘fall through the crack’ where federal financial aid is concerned,” stated Condon. “We encourage all scholarship applicants to file a FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, so they will be considered for Iowa Lakes need based scholarships.”
To apply for scholarships students must visit www.iowalakes.edu and fill out the online scholarship application that applies to them.
