State winners will spend a week this summer in Kansas City, taking tests, videotaping, editing and producing a promotional video. AHS broadcast students are no stranger to this big event. They won a national title in 2005 and have placed in the top 10 four other times.
The Skills USA national championships is a multi-million dollar event that occupies a space equivalent to 16 football fields. More than 6,000 contestants will compete in nearly 100 different events, ranging from culinary arts to electronics.
Iowa Lakes Community College works with the Algona Community School District to provide Career Connect Concurrent Enrollment classes which allow qualified students to earn college credit while attending their local high school.
