The annual Iowa Lakes Jazz/Show Choir Festival was held January 26 and 27, 2009.  The festival helps schools prepare for competition at the State Swing Choir and Jazz Choir Festivals. Show Choirs performed in the gymnasium on the Estherville campus while the Jazz Choir performances were held in the auditorium. There was a total of twenty one high school and middle school show and jazz choirs performing for the clinicians.

Immediately following their performances, the choirs received comments and suggestions. Clay Blackman, Director of Choral Arts at Omaha South High School in Nebraska, was the clinician for the Show Choirs and Dr. Kurt Runestad, Director of Choral Activities at Doane College in Lincoln Nebraska, was the clinician for the Jazz Choirs.

Each performance and clinic session was videotaped and taped comments provided to the choirs.  Certificates are awarded to students for Outstanding Soloist performances.
