Those who love a warming, dreams-come-true fairytale will want to attend the spring musical at Iowa Lakes Community College! Students and area community members will perform the timeless story of Cinderella (Enchanted Edition).
This classic tale will be retold with all the magic and charm created by the original Rodgers and Hammerstein score. The tale of the humble, young girl who goes from an underprivileged maid to an elegant princess is loved by many, from adults to children alike. In the Enchanted edition, the story of Cinderella will create warmth and charm, from the hilarious stepsisters to the moment when the slipper fits.
Performances will be March 29, 30 and 31, 2012. Audition dates are scheduled for February 2 and 7, in room 72 at the Estherville campus. Children will audition at 6 p.m., adults at 7 p.m. Those interested need only attend one of the audition dates.
“We need a large cast with at least 6 men and 6 women with an unlimited number of chorus members, including children, teenagers and adults,” said Carol Ayres, Professor of Music.
Cinderella (Enchanted Edition) was based on the original production of Cinderella, written by Rodgers and Hammerstein. Book, music and lyrics are by Oscar Hammerstein II; adapted for the stage by Tom Briggs; from the Teleplay by Robert L. Freedman. The Enchanted Edition is based on the 1997 teleplay which starred Brandy as Cinderella and Whitney Houston as her Fairy Godmother.
