The first day of competition in the Annual Jazz Band Contest at Iowa Lakes Community College has been completed. Winners from Wednesday, Jan. 25, are listed below.
Class 1A:
1st – Central Lyon; directed by Sherwin Langholdt
2nd – Woodbury-Central; directed by Mark Cripps
3rd – Gehlen Catholic; directed by Paul Niebuhr
Class 3A:
1st – MOC-Floyd Valley; directed by Kevin Linder
2nd – Storm Lake; directed by Jason Heeren
3rd – Spirit Lake; directed by Jody Ingwersen
Thursday will feature Class 2A and Class 4A bands.
The public is invited to attend any or all of the activities. The schedule is posted on the Iowa Lakes Community College website: www.iowalakes.edu/music. All contests are in the gymnasium on the Estherville campus. There is no admission charge. Carol Ayres, Professor of Instrumental Music at Iowa Lakes, is in charge of the event.
