Laker softball drops both games again today to give them an overall record of 0-4.
Game 1 -- Iowa Lakes 5 - Bethany College (West Virginia) 11 Losing pitcher was Alex Frausto. Frausto gave up 9 hits, 4 walks, and 8 earned runs. Relieving her in the bottom of the fifth for her pitching debut was Jordyn Derflinger. Jordyn came in with bases loaded and got the Lakers out of the inning. After that she gave Bethany 2 earned runs on 4 hits and 1 walk. Leading the Iowa Lakes from the batters box was Morgan Zollner who went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, Amber Holmgren went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's, and Amber Grengs went 2 for 3.
Game 2 -- Iowa Lakes 4 - Dakota County (Minnesota) 8 Losing pitcher was Jordyn Derflinger. Jordyn pitched her first complete game, giving Dakota County 3 earned runs on 8 hits and 5 walks. Leading the Lakers from the plate included: Morgan Zollner going 2 for 3, Christina Tendal was 2 for 4, and Jessica Abrahamson went 1 for 1.
"We showed improvements today, but this is still not the outcome we have been working for. Our pitchers have been working hard, we need to clean up the defense behind them to keep us in the game," said head coach Jess VanLoy
The Lakers play tomorrow afternoon at 1 against Riverland Community College (Minnesota) and 5 against Highland Community College (Illinois).
