The Head Women’s Softball Coach at Iowa Lakes, Shane Bouman, has accepted the same position at Indiana State University.
Athletic Director Troy Larson says a search for a new coach will begin immediately. Staff members have informed the current student-athletes of the upcoming coaching change and those players will be included in the interview process for Bouman’s replacement.
“Our program here is in excellent shape with the returning student-athletes and the great core of freshmen Coach Bouman has brought in,” said Larson. “Because of their talents, we will be able to attract a coach to Iowa Lakes who will continue to lead this squad to even more success on the softball field.”
Larson thanked Bouman for his efforts at Iowa Lakes.
“Shane has done a good job with our softball program in the year he was here,” Larson said. “We are pleased for him to be able to continue his coaching career at such a prestigious level of competition.”
Bouman leaves Iowa Lakes for a NCAA Division I Missouri Valley Conference job at Indiana State.
“I want to thank Iowa Lakes and the athletic department for giving me this opportunity and for their support this past year,” said Bouman.
Bouman and the Lakers went 27 – 12 this past season with four first team All Region players and three second team All Region players.
“I am leaving Iowa Lakes to pursue new opportunities and will always remember my time here at Iowa Lakes,” Bouman added.
