The Iowa Lakes Community College Laker Swimming & Diving Team is competing this weekend at the Midwest Regional Competition at the Scully Natatorium in Lincoln, Ill.
Individual national rankings currently for the Lakers are: Samantha Wesel (Hales Corners, Wisc.) ranked 11th in the 200 fly (2:22.64) and 14th in the 1000 free (12:04.23); Emalee Buchholz (Aurora, Colo.) ranked 12th in 1 meter diving (130.15 points); Matt Howell (Council Bluffs) ranked 11th in the 1000 free (10:33.25), 13th in the mile (18:09.57), 14th in the 400 individual medley (4:31.69), and 20th in the 500 (5:05.91); Mick Skiles (Scottsbluff, Neb.) ranked 16th in 1 meter diving (129.90 Points).
Swimming & Diving action began at noon on Friday, and Head Coach Johnathan Jordan looks for an exemplary performance by the Lakers.
“I feel that our swimmers and divers are performing well at the moment. It is going to be a tight competition for the 2nd and 3rd place finish; all the training and competition we’ve put in this season has prepared us for this battle,” said Coach Jordan. “We are looking forward to our first regional competition in the college’s history this weekend.”
