The Iowa Lakes Community College Men’s and Women’s soccer teams took a break from their three-a-day workouts to work with young people at the Spirit Lake YMCA August 14 and 15.
Nearly 50 Laker soccer players worked the camp helping the young players to develop a love for the game while developing some basic skills and, of course, having some fun.
“It’s important that these young players have a good time and get to be around some players who compete at the collegiate level,” Head Soccer Coach Ammon Bennett said. “I think our college players can be such a good role model for these kids. It really is a lot of fun for the youngsters and our college kids have a good time doing it.”
The highlight of each day was the scrimmage of all the campers against the coaches. For this segment, each of the coaches had to link up arm-to-arm with another coach to play!
“The campers came out victorious scoring two goals each day,” he said. “We really had a lot of fun and look forward to next year.”
