Scott Benson, a former Iowa Lakes Community College men’s golf standout, placed third overall and helped lead his Alabama State team to the 2012 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Championship.
Benson, a senior Accounting major at Alabama State, posted a third place finish overall with a score of 223 at the tournament in Alexandria, La. The Hornets took the championship with an 894 for the 54-hole event.
While at Iowa Lakes, Benson was a two-time All American and Academic All-American. He currently holds eight individual low score records as well as several team records at Iowa Lakes. Benson is a Jackson, Minn., native. His parents are Nate and Kelly Benson.
