Iowa Lakes Cross Country Signs Transfer Student Brian Minear

May 12, 2011

Brian MinearThe Iowa Lakes Community College cross country team recently signed Brian Minear for the 2011 season.

Minear, a native of Decorah, will be transferring from Iowa Central. Consistently one of the top runners for his high school team, Minear placed 16th in the 3A 2008 state cross country meet and 7th place in 2009.

“Brian is going to be an excellent addition to our men’s team,” commented Head Coach Molly Struve. “He has one year of college running experience, so I hope he will be a great leader for the new athletes.”

Minear’s average 8K (5 miles) time in college has been around 28:00 minutes, an impressive 5:35 average mile time.

“I had the opportunity to watch him run while in high school and last year as well. He is a very talented runner and will most likely be our top runner this fall,” added Struve. “His brother ran on the Iowa Lakes men’s team during the 2008 and 2009 seasons, so it’s neat that Brian decided to attend Iowa Lakes as well.”

The Iowa Lakes Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams will begin the 2011-12 season in early August.
