The Iowa Lakes Community College men’s basketball opens conference play at home this weekend against fourth ranked Kirkwood Community College. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 at the Iowa Lakes Gymnasium. The Lakers are coming off 97-64 win against Waldorf while the Eagles lost 79-77 to NJCAA DI #3 Indian Hills Community College.
Laker Men Open Conference Season Against Fourth Ranked Kirkwood
“Kirkwood has been one of the better teams in the conference year in and year out. It should be an exciting and high energy game and we are looking forward to our fans coming out to support the Lakers,” said head men’s basketball coach Troy Larson.
The Lakers are led offensively by Tyler Stumme and Shane Woods who average 15 and 14 points per game respectively. Eric Allison also averages in double digits adding 12 points per game. In 11 games, Woods has only been held below double digits in scoring twice.
Kirkwood is led by Matt Tiby and Antoine Howard with 16 and 10 points per game respectively. Mike Weber is shooting 41% from behind the arc with 23 three-pointers on the season.
Last year the Eagles won the match-up 87-63.
