The Iowa Lakes Community College head men’s basketball coach Troy Larson announced the signing of Jake Janssen. He will be joining the Laker basketball program this fall.
Janssen, a 6-foot-8-inch Center from Calamus-Wheatland High School in Wheatland, IA., was selected first team All-Big East Conference as a senior as well as Second team All Eastern Iowa–from the Quad City Times.
During his senior season, Janssen scored 300 points, an average of 14.3 points a contest while grabbing 253 rebounds, 12 rebounds per contest. Janssen helped lead Calamus-Wheatland to a 10– 13 overall record this past season.
“Jake will provide us with a big physical presence inside. He moves very well and has a good skill level. He is a great fit at Iowa Lakes and I’m excited to coach him next year.” Commented head coach Troy Larson.
Jake is the son of Merlyn & Stephanie Shocker and the late Bruce Janssen.
Iowa Lakes Men’s basketball is coming off an outstanding 2012 – 2013 in which the Lakers won the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) regular season title for the first time in school history. The Lakers also won the Region 11 championship resulting in Iowa Lakes 4th national tournament appearance. The Lakers are coached by Troy Larson, who is entering his 7th year at Iowa Lakes with an overall record of 122 – 67. Iowa Lakes returns four players from the 2012 – 2013 team.
